The POE-IN on SG200-08?

I do not find much information about the POE-IN port 1 on the SG200-08. Will I be able to power a SG200-08 switch from a POE port on a SG200-26P?

Hi Ivar, yes, this switch does have a function to power another sg200-8 with POE via port.

Ivar,

The SG200-08 is designed to be powered by PoE when used in remote locations where AC power is not available.

Is it anywhere documented on which type of POE Input voltage is needed for this switch?

The question is because I do have a 24v POE injector that I'd like to use to power this switch, but in the specifications this switch is supposed to receive only 12v.

Any recommendations? Will I burn the switch if I connect a 24v POE injector in port 1 ?

Tks for your help

Diego

Hi Diego,

The 12V input is for a power supply (wall wart). The switch will negotiate with the PoE injector and get the power that it needs. It should work without issues as long as the injector is standard.

The injector I'm planning to use is the one that comes with a Ubiquity Access Point.

It's described here: http://www.ubnt.com/accessories/poe-adapters/
