Can we integrate Cisco WLC will ActiveDirectory with LDAP

Hi,

Is is possible to integrate Cisco WLC with active directory using LDAP.

Customer does not want to install any additional appliance(so radius is out of question).

When client clicks on SSID, it should prompt for ActiveDirectory username and password. Is this possible? Are there any other ways to do this?

Is this easy to do? are there any ceveats?

Haze

Hi,

Yes, you can use LDAP server as xternal DB on the WLC to authenticate users.

Now the constraint is on the availabe authentication methods you have.

For example LDAP does not support PEAP, or any MSCHAP methods.

LDAP only supports clear text user/pass and EAP-TLS or EAP-FAST.

So you can configure the WLC with Local EAP and define the LDAP server as default database for users.

But keep in mind that only EAP-TLS or FAST (L2 authentication) or PAP (L3 web auth) are supported authentication methods.

Here is an example of Local EAP Authentication on the Wireless LAN Controller with EAP-FAST and LDAP Server: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6366/products_configuration_example09186a008093f1b9.shtml.

Tiago

Re: Can we integrate Cisco WLC will ActiveDirectory with LDAP

Hi All,

Very well explained, but i have a question for this.

My enviroment is Client > AP > WLC ( with LOCAL EAP/FAST and AD as External Database)

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6366/products_configuration_example09186a008093f1b9.shtml.

Having this Can I Authenticate the Client by Web -Auth (layer 3 Method) with AD still works?

Thanks in Advance.
