CSPC Inital Login

We've installed CSPC2.5.2.1 in Hyper-V, but cannot login to the console with admin/Admin!23, as listed in the manual or cisco/cisco, which is what the introduction video says to use.  What am I missing?

Good afternoon,

Could you post a screenshot of the message it gives you when you try admin/Admin!23? Also, could you link the video that shows cisco/cisco as a login? That is not a password or username combination that we use for collectors.

Thanks,

Lynden

The only error message is "Login incorrect" in the console.

The video is here: http://www.cisco.com/E-Learning/bulk/subscribed/SNTC_vods_EN/Software_Appliance.mp4

When the VM first boots, do you see a message of "Press any key to continue" followed by the login prompt?

Or do you see some CentOS startup messages and then the login prompt?

Cesar

We are seeing the CentOS startup and then the login prompt.

Sounds like the installation did not complete fully.

A possible reason was that the boot order was not set to "HDD" before the VM was started.

The entire installation process should be unattended. Once it starts, it should take about 2.5 hrs.

Sounds like you will have to redo the installation, definitely make sure that before you star the VM for the first time you set the boot order to HDD first.

The full install will have at least 1 reboot, this is normal. When the install completes you should see a "Press any key to continue" message followed by a login prompt.

At that point the default user/pw should be effective.

Also note that on Hyper-V only generation 1 will work with the SNTC image.

Cesar:

We re-installed and I'm able to get in.

Now I'm having trouble registering the collector.  I think I'm on the right page.  It's asking me for a site id and a serial number.  Where do I find this information?

Also, the documentation I've been able to find does not seem to be in sync with the current software version.  Would you please give me a link to the most current documentation/guides for CSPC?

Thank you.

You can put anything for the Site ID. It just represents where the collector is located.

For a VM there isn't a serial number, so you can generate a random one here:

http://www.epochconverter.com/

by just copying the Unix Epoch time.

I wrote a blog post that details how to deploy the collector, which you can find here:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/blog/12696871/self-service-onboarding-setting-cspc-25-collector

There is also a getting started guide produced by the support team:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/12692326/cspc-self-service-getting-started-guide

Please let me know if you run into any other issues.

Thanks,

Lynden
