My HDTV is 1080i resolution capable. Why do some channels show in 720p?

Why does myTV output 720p on some channels instead of 1080i?

Several HD networks such as Fox  Broadcasting, ESPN and others broadcast in 720p because the picture is  considered to be smoother for fast action sports telecasts.

Also, check the resolution settings on your television to ensure maximum benefit from your device.
