I have a brocade connected to HP C 700 and thats connected to Cisco 9148 . Do i have to make any changes on brocade as well ?

If you are doing enhanced zoning in your mds fabrics you don't need do anything in the brocade fabric.

Richard

HP blades servers with integrated brocade switches ?

One of them must be as npv (brocade or mds), if the zoning is in the mds...

Sent from Cisco Technical Support Android App

on brocade it's not NPV, it's access gateway mode.

@dynamoxxx

So, there is no option, one of them must be as npv and the other with npiv enabled.

not necessarily, you could run brocade i native mode and use interop vsan on MDS.

Guys,

The interop mode was discontinued by brocade, to connect mds to brocade fabric you must run mds as npv mode.

Follow the reference:

http://www.brocade.com/downloads/documents/matrices/compatibility-matrix-fos-7x-mx.pdf

"NOTE: Cisco switches must be configured to Cisco N-Port Virtualizer (NPV) mode to connect to Brocade switches.

Cisco NP ports connect to Brocade F_Ports."

Guys , i am fairly new in storage networking . How whould i be able to verify that which devioce is npv and which is with npiv enabled or access gateway.

On brocade i see the MDS swicth in the zone field

@dynamoxxx Yes HP is with Integrated Brocade switch.

typicall with integrated switches that come with HP C-class blade enclosures, you put them in NPV mode if they are MDS 9124e or you put them into access gateway mode if they are Brocade 4024.  For either of those cases if your core switch is MDS, you need to enable NPIV.

Is this a brand new implementation that you are trying to setup ?

@dynamoxxx

@dynamoxxx

No its not new , everything is working , I just want to add another Server & SAN communication

ok, then install operating system on the server, it will login to the fabric and do your zoning/array work.

@dynamoxxx

You mean the below on MDS only
