Basic Nexus 5k configuration for native FC

Hello,

Does anyone have steps on how to configure Nexus 5k for native fc to a storage controller? See topology:

[SERVER] hba <------> FC Port [NEXUS 5548UP] FC Port <-------> FC Port [STORAGE ARRAY]

Any info that anyone could provide regarding this would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Basic Nexus 5k configuration for native FC

Hi Teddy

Assuming you use the last two ports as FC-ports:

feature fcoe (this includes the native FC-features)

slot 1

port 31-32 type fc

reload switch

vsan database

vsan 10

interface fc1/31-32

switchport mode F

no shut

vsan database

vsan 10 interface fc 1/31

vsan 10 interface fc 1/32

Check FLOGI:

show flogi database vsan 10 (you should see a flogi from each FC port)

ZONIG:

zoneset name ZS-VSAN-10 vsan 10

zone name Z1

  member pwnn (PWNN of ARRAY)

  member pwnn (PWNN of HBA)

zoneset activate name ZS-VSAN-10 vsan 10

Hi Teddy,Can you pls share

Hi Teddy,

Can you pls share you Nexus 5548 config as I am also trying to connect my 5548up with an FC Storage array. But the ports on Nexus Switch are not coming up

I am connecting as below

Can you please clarifyBlade

Can you please clarify

Blade Server<-----> MDS Switch FC Port <-------> FC Port [NEXUS 5548UP] FC Port <-------> FC Port [STORAGE ARRAY]

- Is this your topology ??

- I can see fc 1/31 as a trunking E-Port ! Is this where you connect your MDS ?

- I can't see any other fc connectivity ? on which port is your storage array connected ?

- are you using VSAN 10 for your host and storage connectivity ?

- show interface fc 1/31, we need to know, which VSAN's are allowed on that link. The ports themselfs are in VSAN 1 !!

Hi Wdey,Thanks for reply. I

Hi Wdey,

Thanks for reply. I want my blade to access my Storage through Nexus 5548up. Storage is connected to port fc 1/32 which shows "fc1/32 is down (Link failure: loss of sync)". Even if use VSAN 1 sitll same,

HiSomething basic must be

Hi

Something basic must be wrong with your port fc 1/32 connecting the storage; please check the following

- Is the port "no shut"

- is the port on the storage subsystem enabled

- are the MMF cables ok ?

- try swap cable send and receive

- is the sfp ok

- try another N5k port

Dear Wdey,

Thanks for your support. Its ok now it was from the storage side. The storage port was set to be as a loop port. So i changed it to point to point the it worked,

Thanks
