Denied Power to Module on MDS9506 v3.3(1c)

Hi, I have a MDS9506 v 3.3(1c) that is denying power to the 4th module.  I did a show environment power cmd and got the following:

Each of the 2 modules has 1019.34 power (watts) but it is set in redundant mode.  The Power (Amp @42V) is 24.27 for each module.

Here is what I have for each module

Mod     Power Requested (Watts)     Power Requested (Amp @42V)     Power Allocated (Watts)     Power Allocated (Amp @42v)

1          190.68                                   4.54                                               190.68                                   4.54

2          190.68                                   4.54                                                190.68                                   4.54

3          147.00                                   3.50                                                  147.00                                   3.50

4           147.00                                   3.50                                                  0.00                                        0.00

5          126.00                                   3.00                                                  126.00                                        3.00

6          126.00                                   3.00                                                  126.00                                        3.00

Power Usage Summary:

Power Supply redundancy mode:               redundant

Total Power Capacity                                   1019.34 W

Power reserved for Supervisor(s)                    252.00 W

Power reserved for Fan Modules                    126.00 W

Power currently used by Modules                    528.36 W

Total Power Available                                   112.98 W

Since it takes 147 Watts to power up the 4th module, I can't because I have 112.98 W available.  Are there any other solutions other than changing the redundancy mode?  Is the MDS switch only capable of 1019.34 power capacity?

Hi Raymond,

could you post the full output of 'show environment power' please?

Re: Denied Power to Module on MDS9506 v3.3(1c)

Hi Raymond,

as per the specs found on

Output capacity

1050 W maximum (at input of 100 to 120 VAC).
1900 W maximum (at input of 200 to 240 VAC).

This means you have a theoretical 30W more than the 1019.34W you are getting. Still this isn't enough.

So you have 2 options:

* Connect it to a 200-240VAC outlet

* Run the power supplies in combined mode
