Error disabled - bit error rate too high on MDS switch

I have been trying to perform an NDMP backup between A HP LTO5 Ultrium Tape Library and Netapp with the MDS switch providing the fabric.

However, everytime I initiate the job, I experience this problem.

 

Below are some of the outputs on the concerned FC Ports:

hi,

 

If SFPs have been replaced, it's time for the cables and patch-panels.

Please provide a drawing of the configuration, with

- FC port type, speed, medium (show interface of every FC port, tape as well as Netapp)

- show flogi database

- is there a FC speed mismatch between tape and Netapp ?

Tape Data:

The info for the tape Library has been a challenge to retrieve, however, Documentation states that the FC Port can support upto 4GB. On the SL Console, it is showing that it is in Auto! With N_mode.

We set the speed on the MDS switch to 4GB on the port where the tape library is connected, hoping to address the speed mismatch, but still had same issue!

I see this for interface 1/19, 1/20, 1/18, 1/10, 1/25, 1/26.

The traffic flow is not going directly from disk (Netapp) to tape, but disk (Netapp) - Backup server - Tape ? correct ?

RX power warning : either you have wrong (single mode) patch cables; dirty connectors; broken SFP's; something at the physical layer is wrong.

If this is not fixed, you will have problems.

The traffic flow is flowing directly from disk (Netapp) to tape, through the Fabric (MDS). The two are zoned, accordingly. The type of traffic involved is NDMP data!

We will look at the physical layer and try to address the Rx Power warning, thank you for pointing that out.

Any word on the 'errDisable'?!

I think once you have fixed the physical problems (RX power issues), error disable will be gone.

I do not see any such errors on the ports that are involved in the design! I.e ports 23 and 27 or 28!

Do you suggest the Rx issue is system wide?!

 

Kindly advise the main suspects with the ErrDisable error?! The possible causes.

The following ports show RX power alarms:

FC 1/20, 1/12, 1/18, 1/10, 1/19

Can you please post the transceiver details ? show int fc1/28 transceiver

Cisco SFP's parts ? are the patch cables MMF ?

Are your patch cables MMF 50/125 or 62.5/125 ?

I tried change of SFPs from Finisar to Cisco Shortwave to not much effect! Only improvement was that a little more data was transferred (initially 50 GB now 250 GB) before the link drop!

Any thoughts?
