Folks,

I tried to define fcid as static and then tried to make it persistent, but the switch output still shows me that it is dynmaic?

fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 1

fcdomain domain 33 static vsan 10

fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 10

fcdomain domain 32 static vsan 20

fcdomain fcid persistent vsan 20

fcdomain fcid database

vsan 1 wwn 21:00:00:e0:8b:07:1a:5b fcid 0x6c0000 area dynamic

vsan 1 wwn 21:00:00:e0:8b:07:00:5b fcid 0x6c0100 area dynamic

vsan 1 wwn 20:06:00:0d:29:19:f7:80 fcid 0x6c0200 area dynamic

vsan 10 wwn 21:00:00:e0:8b:07:1a:5b fcid 0x210000 area dynamic

vsan 20 wwn 20:06:00:0d:29:19:f7:80 fcid 0x200000 area dynamic

How can i correct this? what would be the right way to do this?

There is nothing wrong here.

These are entries either learned by the switch in a vsan where persistent fcid feature is enabled or entries that you configured and you specified the "dynamic" keyword option while doing so. The "dynamic" bit means you can purge the entry if it is currently not logged into the switch with the "purge fcdomain fcid vsan x" command. If you did not specify "dynamic" it will show as a STATIC entry in which case the only way to remove it is to unconfigure it. Purge command does not apply to STATIC entries. To check, issue the "show fcdomain fcid persistent" command. For example,

stormy# show fcdomain fcid persistent

Total entries 3.

Persistent FCIDs table contents:

VSAN WWN FCID Mask Used Assignment

---- ----------------------- -------- ----------- ---- ----------

200 21:00:00:e0:8b:0b:57:3a 0xef0000 ENTIRE AREA YES DYNAMIC

200 50:06:0e:80:00:42:83:53 0xef0100 SINGLE FCID YES DYNAMIC

200 21:00:00:e0:8b:0b:57:66 0xef1600 SINGLE FCID NO STATIC

stormy# purge fcdomain fcid vsan 200
