I am unclear on how to connect to an ONS from a MDS 9513 for a DWDM ISL. Are the sfp's on the MDS standard short wave sfp's or do I need a "DWDM SFP" such as: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps5455/ps6576/product_data_sheet0900aecd80582763.html

We have an ONS in between our two Data Centres and I don't use any special SFP's. Thats for both Brocade and Cisco switches. I have often wondered what the DWDM SFP's do. I can understand CWDM's SFP's...

Thanks Stephen. You echo my experiences exactly. I am familiar with CWDM but not the ONS to MDS links. I too wonder how DWDM SFP's fit into the picture.

I believe that it depends on which ONS modules you are using. Some will accept the SW laser and the ONS module will change to long wavelength for the haul over the long fiber.
Other ONS modules work in a pass through fashion, and simply take the incoming wave length and mux it onto the to long haul fibre. In this case, you need the DWDM SFPs in each MDS port.
Can you advise which ONS modules you have installed?
Thanks,
Mike
