Grace period on our 9216 enterprise license has expired. What information to I need to give to our sales team about the switch in order to get new license.

When I do:

switchname# show license host-id

License hostid: VDH=

it doesn't show hostid.

If you have any other licenses, then that would be best way to get the info. But the results from show sprom backplane 1 should have the SN# that would be used for licensing as well.

Is this a demo unit, probably the serial # got messed up. ?

show sprom backplane 1 | include Serial

might show the status ?

Normally

show license host-id is

License hostid: VDH=SERIALNUMBER

where SERIALNUMBER Starts with FOX.
