Load 8 port lic

I have an 8 port lic file on my laptop. How do I install the lic on a MDS9124 switch?

I have tried the Fabric MGR GUI and I get the following error “Error NotThisHost?

is this license specific to the switch in question?

where did you get that license file?

These files are specific/locked to a certain MDS and cannot be copied from one MDS to the other.

I had the wrong host id in my lic file. I got a new lic file and it installed just fine.

When enter # show luc usage I see 24 port licenses, but when I enter show interface fc1/13 the response is port activation lic not available.

I also enter no shut interface fc1/13, do I need antoher command to active the lic on a per port bases?

Make sure you've added "port-license acquire" to each interface you've licensed.

It will look like this in the running config:

foobar-fcsan-sw1# sh run int fc1/16

version 3.1(2)

interface fc1/16

port-license acquire
