I have a IBM ESS F20 with 6 fibre connections to 2 Brocade switches. The wwn is the same on one switch for the 3 connections to the ESS and I can not configure the persistent FCID for the 3 connections with one wwn. Will it work to use the wwpn instead?
I'm not sure what you mean by merging the Bro 2800 to a MDS but, yes, the switch WWN would be the same on three connections because they come from the same SAN. On the MDS the WWN will be the same coming from the same VSAN.
Are you trying to make the WWN the PWWN or/and the FCID the same on the MDS as on the Brocade for migration reasons. You cannot have the same pWWN on the same three fc ports in the same VSAN, you can in three different VSAN's. Give me a little more about what needs to migrate where. If this requires a little more design thought go ahead and open a TAC case and we can hash throught where you are needing to do.
The unmanaged mode is also known as Network only switching, which is introduced in Brazos release. It adds the flexibility for customer to use only network automation for service appliance.
