Nexus 5010/5020 PSU CONTROL

Hi,

I would like to know, if there is anyway either through switch CLI or SNMP to turn-on/turn-off the Nexus 5010/5020 PSU's ?  Besides this, I found that there are five different admin-status for the PSUs of Nexus 5010/5020 (SNMP OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.117.1.1.2.1.1). They are

1:on

2:off

3:inlineAuto

4:inlineOn

5:powerCycle

What are the meaning of the states "inlineAuto", "inlineOn" and "powerCycle"?

Thanks,

Dilip.

Nexus 5010/5020 PSU CONTROL

There is no CLI command or an SNMPset to turn of/onf a power supply in a Nexus 5010/5020. I believe the inlineauto and inlineon are return status values for systems which supports Power over ethernet(PoE) and are not applicable to Nexus 50x0 series.

Re: Nexus 5010/5020 PSU CONTROL

Thanks very much for the reply.

Is it possible to know the reason why the control to turn-on/turn off the PSU in the switch is not given? When no such control is required why is the OID still maintained to return the admin-status?

Are there any plans of providing such feature in future?

Re: Nexus 5010/5020 PSU CONTROL

Hi Dilip

SNMP OIDs are not specific to a platform. But Nexus 5000 will return values which it supports. I am not aware of any plans of supporting this in the future.
