we are currently evaluating solutions for our storage upgrade.

we required 10GbE connection from storage to our servers.

there are 2 proposals that uses nexus switch.

1 uses nexus 5548 while the other one uses 3524.

i understand that 5548 is of a higher grade than the 3524.

i have 7 dell servers that will be connected to the switch using 10GbE NIC.

which nexus switch is more suitable for my environment.

7 servers -> 2 10GbE iSCSI switch -> 1x iSCSI storage(20TB)

Hello Kin Mun,

nexus switch for storage

I consider Nexus 5548 for storage because It can do 1/10G Ethernet, L3 routing, FCoE and traditional 4/8G FC and also it is teh one to which SAN boxes can directly be connected.

If you never intend to use classical FC, FCoE, but only iSCSI, which is TCP/IP over Ethernet, 3524 is ok !

True , but I think 3524 is no more in use these days
