UCS 3.2(3a) / 6248 FI - MDS 9148 comp compatibility

I am wondering what the min level of supported firmware on a MDS 9148 is to support USC FI code 3.2(3a) is.  Because of some legacy hardware we can't move beyond (for now) 6.1(17) on the MDS.

TIA,

Jim

Greetings.

First off, please consider an updated version of UCSM (i.e. 3.2(3d) as 3.2(3a) had some issues, and was removed from the site.

The 6.1(17) MDS version should be fine with any of the 2.2/3.1/3.2 versions of UCSM.

The main issue we used to see for specific MDS and FI inter-operability was:

  • Certain Cisco Fabric Interconnects of the 6200 series have an OUI which will prevent FC port channels from connecting. This issue is outlined in CSCty04686 and can be mitigated by having your upstream Nexus 5000 code at a minimum version 6.0(2)N1(2), or MDS as minimum version 5.2(6)N1(4).

You can check for switch level requirements at the UCS HCL tool at https://ucshcltool.cloudapps.cisco.com/public/#, search by 'products', 'switch', 'blades' and then look under the various UCSM firmware versions to see  any specific notes or requirements.
