Folks,
I just got a MDS switch. I have configured basic ip address and downloaded the fabric manager for it.
I am able to add vsans, zones etc using the fabric manager, but I am unable to give alias to devices, i only get to options when i click on the storage devices menu, save to file and print.
Any ideas?

Is there an error message? What clicks to do you do? What version of FM and SAN-OS? Are you actually looking for fcalias?

yes, the manual i am following shows me that i should go to fabric manager as admin and then click on connected devices and then on the right hand side, click on physical(right next to floggi).
When i do that and click on the graph on the top, i see a table which shows me the pwwn and all the other information except alias(it is empty), then i right click on it and it only gives me an option to save the table or print, does not let me specify the alias.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

FCalias and device alias are going to be separate unless you select to use device alias when FM is starting up. But, it sounds like you are actually looking to do the following: GOTO device alias under the end devices tab. Select configuration and then there is a create row option. Fill in the name and the wwn for that name and enter it.

I was using the 3.0.2 FM. The SANOS and the FM are completely separate so I suggest coming up to at least the 2.1.2e. Do you know if you are really looking for device alias which would be distributed with CFS or fcalias that would be included in a full zoneset distribution?
