VSAN0001 down on a brand new switch.

Hi All,

I have noticed that when I turn on a new 9000 series switch, VSAN0001 is always down. I cant remember what I did the last time on the switches to get it active.

Normally, I just create a new VSAN and put the interfaces into the VSAN and during this procedure, somehow VSAN0001 became active. I just cant figure out how to make VSAN0001 active.

I just turned on two more switches and the same thing has happened again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Stephen

Enabling and FLOGI of any FC interface into VSAN 1 will change VSAN state to active

Here is one way.

config t

int fc1/1-xx

no shut

A vsan must have an actively attached device in one of the ports to come active. VLANs on the ethernet switches are the same way-they are down until something is connected in that vlan.
