Which mib should I use to monitor the tempererature of mds switch

The customer is trying to collect the temperature of the switch, but there are a lot of mibs about it, he would like to know which mib he should monitor. Some examples of the OIDs are:

CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB::entSensorType.21590 = INTEGER: celsius(8)

CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB::entSensorType.21591 = INTEGER: celsius(8)

CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB::entSensorType.21592 = INTEGER: celsius(8)

Re: Which mib should I use to monitor the tempererature of mds s

Does the customer have something that they can use to look at the system, eg Openview? If they have the compiled mibs, they can easily see what the system has to offer. Perhaps do a snmpwalk of

1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.91.1

You may need a leading . in front of the 1 depending on why app you use.

Also, looking at:

ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-CAPABILITY.my shows:

cEntitySensorCapMDS3R0 AGENT-CAPABILITIES

PRODUCT-RELEASE "Cisco MDS 3.0(1)."

STATUS current

DESCRIPTION

"CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB capabilities."

SUPPORTS CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB

INCLUDES {

entitySensorValueGroup,

entitySensorThresholdGroup,

entitySensorThresholdNotificationGroup

}

::= { ciscoEntitySensorCapability 6 }

might show you what you can monitor. I don't have anything in front of me to check but I am sure the info above should be of use.

Fun eh? I love MIBs!!!
