Hi friends,
We recently sold a 4506 with power supply in redundant configuration of 1000W AC (for data only).
But after some time, when I casually launched the Cisco Power calculator (output attached) specifying the modules used, I noticed that Cisco recommends a minimum of 1300W AC power supply!! But the watts required is only 282.60. I'm not sure why the tool recommends 1300W AC when 1000W is enough against a requirement of 282.60W.
Should I get the 1000W exchanged for 1300W? I'm not sure on this. Please advise.
Thanks a lot
Gautam

If you have cards that have the capability of using like POE then it is probably taking into account the cards being fully loaded with IP phones and having to supply the power for those cards , if you never plan on using VOIP on the switch you probably won't ever have a problem...

Thanks for the response glen. Right now, only data will be used. No PoE at all.
There are just 5 modules occupied in 4506 and one free:
1. Sup II Plus
2. 4306-GB (Qty: 3)
3. 4302-GB (Qty: 1)
Thanks a lot

Hi Gautam,
You should be fine with it. You dont need to replace 1000W Power supply. I have just tried configuring it with 1000W PS and it only needs 282.60W. You will be OK.
