Cisco Codec C40

I recently upgraded the software on a cisco codec c40 device.

The software also upgraded the firmware on camera1.

Unfortunately it didn't upgrade the firmware on camera2.

The cameras are daisy-chained.

Is there a simple way to upgrade the firmware on camera2? (Like running some commands on the codec c40)?

Camera 2

Check the following document, it's old, but still valid.

Hi

Only the first cam in chain can upgrade.

You need connect second camera to codec С40 directly.

br Oleksandr

connecting camera 2 directly to the C40 will be impossible at this point, the cameras are mounted to the ceiling and camera2 is too far away from C40.

Guess I need a way to load the rover.pkg to the 2nd camera somehow.

If camera can't move, may be c40 can move to camera

or try Patrick good advice

br Oleksandr

Hi Maken,

Oleksandr is correct. The connection between codec and camera is via Camera Control & HDMI. While HDMI passes video from the camera to the codec, the work of the Camera Control cable is to use Visca protocol to send/recieve signals from the codec. The upgrade is pushed using the same cable. Hence, if the cameras are daisy chained, only the camera connected using the Camera Control cable is upgraded automatically by the codec. All the other cameras need to be either directly connected or upgraded through FTP procedure mentioned in the document shared by Patrick.

Hope this answers your question.
