Cisco Content Server problem when playing video


When user watching video and its about three hours long, player says that cannot play recording an error has occurred? this happends after one hour or after two hour. Is there timeouts or something that make it happens? Or is it silverlight problem? firewall timeout some port or protocol? What should i check or do?

Hi Petri,

Looks like the video is not transcoded correctly because of which this problem is occuring. This generally happens if video is very long. You can try re-transcoding again and this would solve the problem.

To re-transcode do the following:

1. Select the VOD and go to Manage Outputs.

2. Uncheck Viewable in the Content Server web interface checkbox and click save.

3. Again click on Viewable in Content Server web interface check box and select the

Outputs to view in the Content Server web interface appropriately as desired and click save.

This will make TCS to re-transcode the VOD again. You can check the transcode queue to check the progress of transcoding. Go to Diagnostics >> Transcoding queue. Once this finishes you can check the video by playing it again.
