Cisco TelePresence Content Server without Tandberg VCS

Dear all,

we have deploy an Cisco TelePresence Content Server, one C90 and a C20 in our lab environment. However, without the VCS act a registratsion server, we are not able to implement the play back function. Anyone has solution to solve this problem?

Also, i knew that Cisco TelePresence Content Server is a recording and streaming server, it is possible to stream the recording alias( the live event) to the video conferencing endpoint (like C20)?

Regarding the performace in the datasheet,

• Hosts up to five concurrent calls (up to 10 calls with Additional Five Port Option), up to two of which can be streamed live.

Does it mean there are total five C90 call to TCS with different recording alias, and up of the recording alias can be streamed live?

I am have stupid questioon that the number of stream live supposed is unlimited?

Hope can any can help

best Regards,

ben

Cisco TelePresence Content Server without Tandberg VCS

Hi Lai

You need a VCS as this is a requirement for the TCS to function properly there is no other supported workaround for this. Please refer to the system requirements for the TCS in the admin guide.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/tcs/5_0/administration/guide/tcs.pdf

You can use a player like QuickTime or some other players that supports live streaming, this is listed in the admin guide. As far as I know it's not possible to view a live stream from the content server to the endpoint. You could as an alternative dial into the conference and spectate. That would be as live as it can be?

You can have either 5 simultanious recordings on going at the same time and 0 live & on demand streams. Or you can have 2 live & on demand streams and 0 recordings.

When you add the +5 ports option you can either have 10 simultanious recordings on going and have 0 live & on demand streams or 2 live & on demand streams and 0 recordings at the same time. The option does not increase the number of live streams to 4.

It does not necessarliy mean the recording aliases needs to be different. You can have both units call the same recording alias and still use 2 ports, it will be 2 separate recordings.

Dear Magnus,

It is greatly appreciated that you are providing a clear explanation for us

However, we are still facing some techical problems. As stated in previous disccussion, our target goal is to set the c20 as a live audience, while  C90 is capturing the live event. However, we have dailed the C20 to C90, and following is the video output of the c20,

Do you have method or API command to remove the right hand side recording screen ? Since we prefer our C20 audience to see the C90 video signal only.

On the other way, I have a stupid question in the live & on demand streams from your reply

//

You can have either 5 simultanious recordings on going at the same time and 0 live & on demand streams

//

Our team have checked with the Adminstration guild, however,  we are still confusing in that.

Would you minding providing more information on this?

Thank a lot

Best Regards,

ben

Re: Cisco TelePresence Content Server without Tandberg VCS

So, both C20 and TCS are connected to C90, in that case, on the C90 use:

xConfiguration Video Layout RemoteLayoutFamily: FullScreen

Hi Lai

Jens is correct here, check the layout setting. Also if doing a Scheduled multipoint session from TMS this layout can be configured under MCU settings in the booking interface of TMS.

What I meant was that you can do 5 simultanious recordings which are not streamed live. While you do these 5 recordings you cannot create any live streams. IF you do 2 live and on demand (live & recording) you can only do these 2. and not 5 recordings + 2 live streams = 7. Hope this clears it up.

Re: Cisco TelePresence Content Server without Tandberg VCS

Hi Magnus!

How many recordings can you have when one stream is running (with or without the additional 5 recording licenses)?

Any plans to have a steam which does not require to record the session?

Is there a way to limit simultanious recordings on one alias on the tcs?

What happens if a fixed streaming point is generated and a secong call hits the same streaming alias?
