connecting to teleconference that has a @ in the ip address string

I am trying to connect to a teleconferencing site that has a @ symbol in the ip address string.  ie 1234@  followed by the ip address.   My Cisco c40 will not let make the call.  All other video conferencing call go through that do not require a @ symbol in the address.  Any suggestions?

Where is your C40 registered to? Is it registered to a VCS Control? Do you also have a VCS Expressway? Does the C40 have its own public IP address?

If registered to a VCS Control where does the call die at? Can you follow the search history to see if it gets passed onto the VCS Expressway and then on to the DNS Zone.

As Adam has advised, this sounds like a search rule issue.

If you have a search rule on VCS-C that says something along the lines of:

Source - Local Zone

Regex

[your internal dial plan]@your-domain.com

Target local zone

Then another one with a lower priority that says:

Source - Local Zone

Regex

.*@.*

Target VCS-E

Then a search rule on VCS-E that states:

Source - VCS-C traversal zone

Regex

.*@.*

Target: DNS Zone

This must not necessary be the case.

Anyhow we would need to know how the deployment looks like, is it registered somewhere

and if so whats the registrar/call control and what components are involved in between both endpoints.

IP address dialing is a bit confusing if a vcs is used. It depends if its an internal ip, known by the vcs or

something outside.

If its an IP outside and the endpoint is registered to the vcs-c, that one must have the calls

to unknown ips set up as indirect and an ip search rule pointing to the vcs-e and the vcs-e needs

to have that set to direct.

Check out the basic VCS-C&E deployment guide as well as the VCS admin guide.
