EX60 use of two different MAC Adresses

Hi outthere,

I'm using an EX60 for testing. Everything works fine, but my colleges told me that the endpoint is using two different MAC addresses. These addresses are seen on the awaya switch the ex60 ist connected.

After doing a factory default the situation didn't change.

It's kind of mystic, because my ex90 do not use two MAC addresses.

So the question is, what's the diffrence between ex60 and ex90? Is this a normal behavior on ex60?

Hello,

Are you using a touch panel on the EX60? I think that the 2nd MAC address will probably be the one from the attached touch panel. How to check? The MAC address of the EX60 can be checked using the API. ssh into the EX60 and execute :

xstatus Network //Mac  

*s Network 1 Ethernet MacAddress: "00:50:60:05:52:BA"

** end

OK

The MAC address of the touch can be checked via root access to the codec.

My touch is not directly connected, so cannot see the MAC address here, only the gateway address. But you should see the directly connected touch.

Alternatively, there's  a sticker on the back of the touch with serial number, and I think, MAC too.

We have a ddts open for this behaviour.

Hi Martin,

I am not familiar with any such behavior. When you say that the codec takes two MAC addresses, I am not exactly sure how you found that. Do you have anything connected to the PC port on the back of Ex60. Maybe you have connected some other device on the PC port and the other LAN port is going to the switch in that case, I think it might be that the device on the PC port is requesting an IP address and supplying the MAC address. Can you confirm that?

If its not the case above, can you also check that the second MAC address is not the Touch Panel which is paired with the device? These are the only two situations when one could see two MAC addresses.

I think the way to turn it off would be to disable CDP protocol on the touch because that's sent to a broadcast MAC address which "leaks" in the internal EX90 ethernet switch from the touch port to the LAN port. That's what's going to happen in new releases : CDP on directly connected/pair touch will be turned off.

The bug cannot be viewed yet. I requested to get this changed so it can be viewed. Will be fixed in TC6.0.0 release(s).

Cannot see any workaround at this point in time.
