Hi guys,
I have a codian isdn gateway that I cannot log onto as admin because we have no Idea what the password is. Default credentials don't work and commands such as reset_config and reset_password-all when entered via console returns unknown command error. No idea what revision of software box is running.
Thanks

Hi Irfan,
reset_password is the right command.
From the description, I see that you are using "reset_password-all".
Let me know if it works or not.

Hi Irfan,
Its strange that I dont see reset-config option here. Give me a day and i shall be able to answer you.
As of now i don't have console access to my Lab gateway.
Also try this (not sure if this works)
-reboot the ISDN GW and execute reset_config within 30 secs once booting is completed.

Hi Irfan,
If you have forgotten your password for your Cisco acquired TANDBERG/Codian product you need to restore the unit to its factory settings to reset it. This will remove all configuration, including password
To return your unit to its factory settings and reset the password:
To change the password, go to Users.
Thanks

Hi Cris,
On my lab gateway, I am able to use commad reset_config. However When Irfan tries to use it, it returs with unknown command error.
Not sure if was different method on older firmawares

HI guys. Have a 3220 GW on 2.1(1.49), and did the following:
Watched on the console for the following message:
"Hit Ctrl+C in the next 5 seconds to prevent isdn_gw start"
Once you see this, type in (no matter if it starts to scroll: Stare at the keyboard and type it): reset_config < hit enter> y
System will come around on boot, and then look to see in the console session for:
ISDN-GW:> reset_config
and....."Warning: This action is not reversible. Are you sure you want to continue?081317.561 SYSTEM : Info : Unique id "connection_id" was written; new allocation is 200000
y"
At least this is where it was written to mine.
Later on you may see:
"
081331.963 CONFIGURATION : Info : save operation 3656 (9203 bytes) took 25.679s
081331.964 CONFIGURATION : Info : Config file /fat/igw_cfg.bak preallocating
Waiting for configuration file to reset
Configuration reset"
Then it will go down for a restart.
Give this a shot and see if it works. Once you see that first line, type that in and continue to do it no matter if it scrolls or not.
Let us know the outcome. Thanks.

Many thanks for your help so far guys, but still no closer to logging on as admin. below is the output from the gw when performing the above steps recommended:
***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****

Hit Ctrl+C in the next 5 seconds to prevent ISDN GW start
^C# reset_config
rm: /fat/mcu_cfg.xml: No such file or directory
rm: /fat/mcu_cfg.bak: No such file or directory
Mar 29 15:11:01 reboot: rebooted by root

# syncing disks... done
rebooting

Hi Irfan - Run this again if possible, but don't hit ctrl-c to break the boot. Once you see that line, just stare at the keyboard and type it in and let us know.
So, don't break the boot if you can.
Let us know.

HI Irfan,
It looks like we'll have to look into few logs to try to understand what's happening here so kindly asked to open a TAC case to further troubleshoot.
Please attach to the case the serial output of the unit whilke trying to reset the unit password.
Regards
