Installing both VCS_vm & Conductor_vm with Cisco UCS

1.     Can you install both VCS and Conductor [VM] on the same virtual environment where Cisco UCS (Unified Communications) servers are running?

2.     The CPU Models on those hosts are Intel E7-4870 @ 2.40GHz will that suffice?

3.     Can these virtuals be vmotioned?

4.     Is NFS Back End storage sufficient?  We are currently running on NetApp 6210’s and 6220 filers with 2TB Cache cards

.

5.     Can the Storage be thin Provisioned?

Installing both VCS_vm & Conductor_vm with Cisco UCS

Hi Fred.

I always recomend searching on Cisco.com, here in the forum and via google.

All the info here I added together with a quick search with google, if I can do it, so can you! ;-)

1) VCS and Conductor have no issue with that, but the VCS/Conductor have requirements as well as UC applications.

So it might be dependent on what apps you want to run and if other things like your server/virtualization platform are supported.

Be aware that it does require dedicated cpus and no oversubscription.

2) should be ok:

3) should be ok

sharing disk storage subsystem is supported subjec tto correct performance (latency,BW) characteristics

4) no

Note that Thin Provision is not supported as VM performance may degrade during resizing of a partition.
