Hello,

What version of software are you using?

Do you have both HTTP and HTTPS enabled or one of these disabled?  You could try enabling both and rebooting to see if this resolves your issue.

Thanks

John

I am not able to access anything on the codec at all.  as far as I know http, https, telnet was enabled

when i try to telnet in it bumps me out

is there a back way into the codec thru serial with specific instructions to stop this message or reset?

thanks

FYI, Cisco TAC sending over a replacement codec for this error message

Question to all if you are experiencing Cisco Codecs having issues lately?

so far within this week we have had two C60 that needed replacements

Hi,

Did you try to take a log from the serial port and see if the codec actually boots up properly?

Or did you try to break the boot and send the selectsw command and try selecting the other image if any.

Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPhone App

was trying to find out how to break the boot but was not informed how to,

are you able to provide that set of instructions?

have not had a chance to connect thru serial port in what that is saying as well

would love to if had time but we needed the codec to be replaced to get a working one up and running

my only concern is eventhough am able to break the boot, there is no insurance that it will not happen again, correct?

Hi,

Connect a serail cable to the codec, reboot the codec and you should see below (example from C60)

Press 'b' to enter u-boot prompt

Press 'c' to stop autoboot:  0

Notice the last 2 lines, follow it and you should see the "Casper >" prompt for C60.  Then you can enter the selectsw command.

Connecting via the serial will enable you to see if the codec actually boots up properly.

connected thru serial but am getting garbage characters in using putty

what is the appropriate settings for serial connection?

Hi,

SerialPort BaudRate

Specify the baud rate (data transmission rate, bits per second) for the COM 1 port on the codec. The

default value is 38400.

Connection parameters for the COM port: Data bits: 8; Parity: None; Stop bits: 1; Flow control: None.

You can find this in the admin guide.

So here is the log that was captured, at the end i get the login prompt, therefore am I assuming that it booted properly then?

So here is the wierd part, I did nothing to the codec, all we did was to power it off for at least 24hrs and when I plugged into the serial to check that is what i got from the log capture.

Question if it hangs like before, what would I be selecting from the options? and what needs to be done to resolve the original problem?

Press 'b' to enter u-boot prompt

Press 'c' to stop autoboot:  0

Would it be option 'b' or 'c'?

Hi,

so now your codec is functioning normally without the error?  I am not sure of the cause either (did you btw enter the release key previously?) since there is no log to trace.

If you want to break the boot, press 'b' then follow by 'c' and you will get a prompt.  then from there, you can enter the selectsw command.

What I am suggesting is for you to choose the other software image if you encounter the issue.  It may/may not solve what you are facing intially.

no release key was entered prior to the error, the unit was left over night and next morning the error just showed up

connected a monitor to the codec thru the HDMI output to DVI monitor but am not getting any signal at all

trying to do factory default but cannot connect thru ethernet using cross-cable to the endpoint

so here is an update:

eventhough i am getting the root prompt from the serial connection indicating that everything is normal

when I am accessing thru the web portal of the codec it is still getting me the "Missing Backend" message

I am able to connect to codec thru ssh and get login prompt but it bounces me out when i try to log in

so wonder if there is anything else i can do to do a factory reset or reload software from boot process?
