I have deployed one of these and the customer wants to deploy an external speaker that would sit in the middle of their conference table.
The table is rectangular and can seat approx 10 people.
Does anyone have recommendations for a suitable unit?
Solved! Go to Solution.
You can use any external Speaker as per your requirement and deployment.
However, it should be used with non- grounded active speakers and for grounded active speakers we need
a ground isolator to avoid buzz noise due to grounding issue.
Thank you for the responses.
The customer is replacing a Lifesize codec which had a conference phone with dialpad and speaker and wanted something similar for the SX20.
They have a 7937 IP conf phone in the room but unfortunately that does not offer a speaker in function.
The most suitable thing I have found so far is the Jabra Speak 510 but I am worried it might be a bit small for the requirement.
I mentioned ceiling mounted speakers but they were not keen.
There is no USB-Audio Support the Cisco Codecs. It could be done, because they do have unused USB Ports. This would be very helpful. There are very good low latency audio solutions for linux available on the web.
The Jabra Device is great, because it also has an internal mic and could also bei connected via a bluetooth dongle. So wireless mic/speaker could get reality with a small feature enhancement from Cisco ;-)
I thought the 3.5mm jack for the Jabra 510 was an input but reading the manual it seems to be an output for a headset.
I assumed it worked like the 3.5mm port on my Jabra Solemate.
Some time ago, I´ve tested some similar devices and have learned the following:
btw: I´ve seen in the clearone datasheet, that the microphone has a frequency range only up to 8kHz.
@Amit: Is there a chance to see a professional device or usb-audio support on SX20 and C-Codecs from Cisco in the future?
