TC7 Upgrade Bug

Hey all,

There appears to be a bug with some TC7 upgrades.  I upgraded a C40 & EX90 that were both running TC6.3 with valid TC6 release keys to TC7 I lost the following from the web interface.

  • Experimental section is missing
    • Which means I cannot remove the erroneous Tough 8 error message on my C40 that has no touch panel
  • Release key field is missing from the Maintenance->Software Upgrade section

Thank you,

Experiemental was removed from the web gui, but you can stil CLI it if you need to.  If you know the name of the field your looking for, you can type that in the search button on the gui and it will still show.

If you upgrade to TC7, RK's aren't required anymore for upgrades past TC6.2 I believe, so if you have a key for TC6+, you should be good for other upgrades but will confirm.

Patrick,

I considered that fact, but I have about 3-4 other TC7.0.1 codecs that still retained the menu & release key field?

I upgraded a c60 and no longer have the Release key field either.  As stated, It is no longer needed for upgrades and a valid release key should already be installed if you need to downgrade.

Hi Justin,

Experimental section is missing which means I cannot remove the erroneous Tough 8 error message on my C40 that has no touch panel

The Experimental section has been removed in TC7.

You can remove the message via the CLI (as mentioned in this thread) with:

xConfiguration Experimental SystemUnit MenuType: Interactive

This can be done via the Configuration/API screen on the Web Interface if you don't have telnet/ssh access to the system.

Release key field is missing from the Maintenance->Software Upgrade section

As mentioned by others in this thread, and multiple times in the forums, as of TC6.1, the software will use any valid release key installed, from any version, so you do not need to enter one for TC7.

Again, you can do this via the command line if you need to with:

xcommand SystemUnit ReleaseKey Add Key: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

And again, this can be done via the Configuration/API screen on the Web Interface.

But in most cases, there will be a ReleaseKey on the system, so you shouldn't need to add another (unless all the keys have been removed, or you're downgrading to a pre-TC6.1 software version - in which case, you can add the key via the CLI, or with the GUI on the older version).

Hey all,

Sorry for the false alarm.  I ran the upgrade procedure on my C60 and it rebooted, but the upgrade did not take affect, that is why I thought I saw different upgrade behaviors.  It wasn't till I looked at the actually software version on the C60 that I noticed the upgrade actually did not go thru.

Btw, the main link to experimental is removed, but you can still find it in the webinterface if you search for experimental (or even some letter likke exp ;-) so no need to know the exact name of the field.

And like said, the cli is always a good place to look anyhow ;-)
