TMS License Maintenance

I've been browsing these discussions and have seen a couple of people state that Cisco doesn't provide annual maintenance on their TMS licenses. However, vendors are trying to sell me annual maintenance. Can anyone give me a definite answer on whether or not Cisco provides annual maintenance and, if they do, what it includes?

Thanks for posting!

It might be that someone here are able to help you, but as this is a technical forum most here do not deal with licensing nor the agreements that comes with a service contract. You might get information faster and better by calling the Cisco sales/licensing devision to get a good answer on this.

Do you have any reference to the other discussions you mentioned regarding this subject?

Magnus - thanks for the reply. I've actually been in contact with sales and customer support and no one knows what I'm talking about. One gentlemen did a search in the system but couldn't find it so he couldn't tell me one way or the other. I noticed that Justin Stone mentioned the fact that Cisco didn't have TMs license maintenance in this discussion:

I read through the posts now and it seems like they are dicussing the Release key and the TMS systems licenses. I would not call it licenses in this case but rather option keys. Justin is trying to explain that an endpoint does not need to be covered under service contract (maintenance) to be able to add the system to TMS, but in order to add the system you need a system license in TMS. These options comes in a few different sizes. 25 systems-100 systems etc.

TMS must be covered under a service contract (again something different) to be able to obtain the release keys in order to upgrade the TMS software from one major version to another.

The endpoints must also be covered under a service contract in order to upgrade, so in that case, in order for TMS to do the actual upgrade of the endpoint it needs to be under maintenance.

I think you misunderstood slightly here as I understand them discussing the things I tried to explain (hopefully not too confusing) above. And nothing about annual maintenance of the license.

I don't know what the vendors are trying to sell you. Again this is not my field either. Hope this was of any help..
