Yes, thats not wrong, but it also depends on the amount of systems.

This configuration supports:

  • 1000 direct managed systems
  • 40 MCU's and TelePresence servers
  • Supports Cisco TelePresence Provisioning extension

To fully utilize Cisco TMS an external Microsoft SQL server is required.

In general the minimum requirements are the same if its a virtual or a real server

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/tms/install_guide/Cisco_TMS_install_guide_14-3.pdf

Hardware

Pentium-compatible 2.6 GHz or more is recommended. processor

Memory 4 GB RAM or more is recommended. A warning will be displayed during installation if less than 4GB is detected.

Disk Space n 4 GB for installation and application footprint.

n Additional space is required if you are installing the SQL Server locally–see Database server requirements [p.6].

For my taste they are a quite low, but like I said its all about how your deployment looks like.

With the requirements Patrick mentioned and if you do not exceed the listed amount of devices you will be fine.

There is no direct ova file, you need to supply an operating system (I would recommend Win2008R2)

and if you use a bigger deployment (>200 endpoints or the demand of storing a lot of CDRs) you should look into

having an external sql server.

The TMS software can be downloaded from the cisco site. The currently latest version is 14.3.1

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283613664&catid=282627892&softwareid=280886992&release=14.3.1&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

For full operation you need to buy the proper license keys, but it installs without and you can add 3 systems.

Thats correct, so what he could do is to download the trial of 2008R2 from microsoft

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11093

and download the TMS installer (latest is 14.3.2) from the Cisco site (which might require the right access credentials):

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283613664&softwareid=280886992&release=14.3.2&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

For further information he shall contact his Cisco Partener or Cisco Rep.
