TMS Upgrade, OS and DB Migration

Mark H

Hi,

We're currently using TMS 12.6.1 on Server 2003 with SQL 2005 but we are planning to upgrade to TMS 13.2 on Server 2008 with SQL 2008. I can't seem to find any specific documentation on handling OS and DB upgrades, just in-place upgrades of TMS.

Are the steps below the right course of action for a migration we're aiming for?

- Provision new server with SQL2008 (Same hostname, same IP but obviously disconnected)

- Move tmsng database from old server to new server.

- Install TMS 12.6.1 on new server selecting a custom install and specifying the existing database.

- Perform in place upgrade on new server to TMS 13.2.

- Disconnect old server, connect new server.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi

Yes those steps seems fine only that you do not need to install 12.6.1. Once the database is moved to the new server you can install 13.2.1. The installer will detect the 12.6.1 database and upgrade it accordingly.

Also remember that after you upgraded, check the settings in tms since much of the settings from the old server will reside in the database. But you will notice..

Good luck.

Hi

Yes it does but it requires a new release key.

Thanks Magnus, great to know that I don't need to install 12.6.1 first.

Does it retain the product/option keys from 12.6.1 to 13.2?

Kind regards

Mark
