TP 320 Layout

Hello all,

I want to know about TP layout in MCU 320.

As per following guide, Layout section says:

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/ts/admin_guide/Cisco_TelePresence_Server_Printable_Online_Help_3-1_Media_310_320.pdf

Note: These options are not configurable from the TelePresence Server user interface if the TelePresence Server is operating in remotely managed mode.

What is the meaning of Remotely Managed mode ? Does it mean TP 320 should be managed alone and NOT using TP Conductor ? we have TP 320 managed by TP Conductor, can we get this feature in TP 320 using TP Conductor ?

Hello,

No the TP 320 should be in remotely managed mode with the Conductor. Other Telepresence Servers such as the 7010 or 8710 can be in either remotely managed mode or locally managed mode. In locally managed mode you lose out on port optimization.

You can still configure the layouts in remotely managed mode by configuring them in the conference template on the Conductor.

You will find them in the Advanced Template parameters.

Adam,

When using remote mode & Conductor, what if the conference host wants to change the layout on the fly?  Changing it via TMS does nothing, and the employee would not have access to the Conductor to edit the template and then ask everyone to call back in...

Hi Justin,

This should be enhancement request CSCun33919 which has not yet been implemented in TMS, for adjusting the layout via CCC.  From the notes it looks like endpoints joining the conference after the layout change in TMS will see the new layout right now but it will not change for endpoints that have joined before the change, I haven't tested this just yet though to verify for myself.

The other way would be to use Active Control from the endpoint but this would only be a change local to the endpoint, other endpoints would see the old layout unless they changed it as well.

Jonathan -

I can't confirm this issue on a TP Server, but I can say that using an MCU, the issue is there.  I've opened a TAC case on it previously and your description of the issue is spot on.  I can say the workaround provided to me in the meantime (until it gets fixed in some future release) was to change the layout in CCC on a per participant basis, changing the layouts individually for each participant does work, it's conference wide layout changes that doesn't.  Remember, I'm using an MCU, so this workaround might or might not work for a TP Server.

Patrick,

Thanks for the workaround, I will test this on my TP and let you know if it works.

Thanks,
Justin

Gents,

I found only three options for conference layout under advanced template in TP Conductor, please check the attachment.

TP Conductor version XC 2.4.1, TP 320, CUCM 10.5

End Points = SX20, MXP 3000/6000.

M i missing some thing or TP 320 will support only three types of conference layout.

Conie

All Telepresence Models, 7010, 8710, vTPS, and TPS 310/320 should only support the listed layouts (single, active presence, prominent, and equal)

Jonathan,

Thank you for the confirmation.  My sales staff have been all over me about this and I keep telling them that there is no way to change layouts conference wide at this time, to which they have not believed me.

I am aware of Active Control, but as you said that only works for you locally which is not what my staff is looking for.

Thanks,
Justin
