VCS-E deployment

Hi there everybody,

I'm very new in Cisco telepresence technology,so I need some advises about deployments.

I  have scenario where customer wants VCS-E only to be integrated in their  network as firewall traversall to communicate with external clients.

They have few local endpoints (around 10) which I believe have to be registered to that VCS-E.

There will be no VCS-C in this setup.

Do I need to enable Dual Network Interface to get this working?

Do I need to purchase license key for non-traversal calls to order internal endpoints to communicate with each other?

Is license for registrations of endpoints included in CTI-VCS-EXPRESS-K9 package?

Many thanks for help.

Michal

VCS-E deployment

Hi Michal!

In short, the Starter pack is more limited but its a great out of the box solution. It even gives you

Cisco Jabber Video (a soft client) out of the box. (the real VCS can be better managed, clustered, integrated, ...)

If you need more info I would recommend attending courses or ask your Cisco channels to help you.

Here are the data sheets:

CTI-VCS-EXPRESS-K9

Regards the setup, please check the manuals:

VCS-E deployment

1) depends on your deployment, not necessarily but it helps in many deployments

In short: if the VCS-E IP address is NATed or you have to directly connect two different networks, then: yes

2) no, traversal licenses will be used if no non-traversal call licenses are present

3) besdides the "starter pack express (50)" 2500 registration licenses are included

But:

* with 10 endpoints and a lot of internal calls it makes sense to deploy a VCS-C as well.

* internal h323 calls will still loop the media through the VCS-E as h460 is used on the VCS-E

* If you still only go with a single VCS-E and you do not have TMS maybe a VCS-Starter-Pack-Express could be handy as well

VCS-E deployment

Thanks Martin,

I still think customer wants to stay with single VCS-E solution.

Whould you know what are differences between theese two packs:

1.  VCS-Starter-Pack-Express

2.  CTI-VCS-EXPRESS-K9

And one last favor, could you advise me how correctly to set up VCS-E?
