What is the difference between primary codec and secondary codec in cts-3000?

Hi,

I'm novice about telepresence. This community is only a place to resolve questions to me.

What is the difference between primary codec and secondary codec in cts-3000?

I know primary codec's function. but i don't know secondary codec's function exactly.

Help me please.

Hi,

On a CTS 3000 system you have 1 primary codec and 2 secondary codecs. The secondary codecs are responsible for the left and right camera and display connections. They communicate to the primary codec via an Ethernet cable.

Here is a guide on for the installation of a CTS-3000 so that you can see the routing of the cables.

Secondary codecs connects to the master primary codec.

There is a DHCP client on the primary, which gives out IPs. To check connectivity then you can check the ARP table in the primary codec for IPs and how they are connected 

 utils network arp list 

Secondary got the same HW as primary codecs, but have different connectors.

 

In the newer codec-series called LAGO (used for TX systems), both primary and secondary codec got the same layout and the same connectors. You will be able to swap a primary with a secondary and vice versa.
