Hello,
Subject refers; Can the IP phone licences on the MCS server platform be used or migrated to the BE6K environment? If NO, does Cisco have a compensation or consolation/discount offering on licences?
Does the Tape backup for the publisher be restored unto the BE6k platform for a quick migration?
Does the Unix Operating System on the MCS get backed up with the CCM files on the tape so I need not install OS when I am swapping with another MCS server?
Thanks...

Hi
Please check the answer to your following query below:

Ans. Yes, the existing licenses can be migrated to the BE6K environment. Do you have an active UCSS and ESW contract services. If yes, then the upgrade can be order through the PUT tool. If not, then can avail Cisco Drive to 9 promotional offer to migrate the existing licenses at a discounted price. Please check the following links for more details:

Hi,
For the first query you can engage your Cisco Account team.
Backup from a standalone Publisher can not be restored on BE6K.
OS install is necessary when building a new server, it does not get backed up with DRS backup.

Hi Manis,
When you say:
Backup from a standalone Publisher can not be restored on BE6K.
How does this apply to a migration from CUCM 7x on Bare Metal to CUCMBE6K on UCS?

Hi Anthony,
This was in response to the query 'Does the Tape backup for the publisher be restored unto the BE6k platform for a quick migration?' In this case the cucm versions are going to be different on the MCS and BE6K platform so the restore won't work. However, it would be possible if the cucm versions on MCS and BE6K are the same.

So, installing and getting the SAME version running on the bare metal server to work first on the virtualised platform and later promoting it to desired version should do the magic then???

CUCM on ESXi only accepts remote filesystem for backup and restore.
Tape drives are not supported.
