Currently customer is running unity 4.0(3) VM only and exchange on two different servers. They would like to migrate both into one server.
In this scenario, the hostname and Ip address of the new server will be different and I wasn't sure if DIRT backup and restore would work.
What would be the best way to go about this migration??
Any help on this greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Do a DiRT Backup and save the users' messages.
Build a new unity 4.0(3) VM with Exchange 2000 for message store as a standalone domain controller.
Do a DiRT Restore.
Ip/hostname does not have to be the same.
Be sure to follow the installation guide as permissions issue could bite you.

Thanks Hin Ho.
The exchange server is also the domain controller, Cisco call manager and IPCC express servers are also AD integrated and pointing to that exchange server.
I was wondering If i have to do an AD backup and restore..
Thanks

If you were to do a ad backup/restore, you would have to keep the same hostname and domain name. I think moving two servers into one may not be a good decision as you are not using the AD for VM only.

Hi Hinho,
How about installing the Unity on the existing Exchange server itself.
Is there any drawbacks in doing so..
Its VM only and Exchange server is the Domain controller as well.
