6945 Phones cannot Conference

We have several users at a site that when they hit the conference button and try to dial another phone they immediately received a busy signal before they could even complete the phone# they are trying to dial. They are running firmware SCCP6945.9-2-1-0. I also had someone at a different site try it from their 6945 with the same result. The other site is running firmware SCCP69xx.9-2-1-1-sr. Both sites are CME v8.8.

6945 Phones cannot Conference

No, when you initiate transfer or conference it is always initiated on the same line hence you need ephone-dns to be at least dual-line.

From config guide:

Dual-Line

A dual-line directory number has the following characteristics:

Has one voice port with two channels.

Supported on IP phones that are running SCCP; not supported on IP phones that are running SIP.

Can  make two call connections at the same time using one phone line button.  A dual-line directory number has two channels for separate call  connections.

Can have one number or two numbers (primary and secondary) associated with it.

Should  be used for a directory number that needs to use one line button for  features like call waiting, call transfer, or conferencing.

Cannot  be used for lines that are dedicated to intercom, paging,  message-waiting indicator (MWI), loopback, and music-on-hold (MOH) feed  sources.

Can be combined with single-line directory numbers on the same phone.

You should be able to play with huntstop channel options to control how many calls are allowed for inbound:

6945 Phones cannot Conference

Can you please post the ephone DN config for these?

Does conferencing work for other phone models?

It does not work on other models. I have also gotten a new update from the user

"It happens after we dial the second number.

Whitney and I tried this morning again… I called her from my cell number – she answered and tried to conference to her cell number and we only get a fast busy once the number is dialed.  We even tried not dialing the 9 –not dialing the 208 then 9 – only dialing the 9……  every time nothing worked"

The ephone-dn config is:

You need to configure your ephon-DN either as dual-line or octo:

ephone-dn 2 dual-line

Why would that be? Since each phone has two single line ephone-dn's. shouldn't it be able to grab the second available single line for the conference. Will this cause two calls to be able to come into the same button? We have found on the 69xx phones that having more than one call come in on a button is cumbersome for the users
