Dear NetPro gurus,
One of my customer has recently purchased a pair of brand new Cisco Unity Connection 8.0 & Cisco CallManager 8.0. The Unity Connection servers are currently linked to the CallManager servers via AXL. They have the following question:-
For existing Users with mailbox in Unity Connection, what do I need to give these selected End Users so that they can perform all the functions exactly like the UnityAdmin account when I install the Unity Connection System?? (i.e. full rights to the system)
Cheers,
Hunt

Hi,
You'll want to make sure you add the proper roles to the user accounts in UC:
Open up your "unityadmin" account and go to Edit>Roles and see what roles its been assigned and replicate that for all users you're wanting to grant that level of access to.
Hope that helps,
Brad

Hello bmagnani,
Thanks for your reply.
My customer now has 1 question:-
Is there any way the Unity Connection server can sync its User mailbox 'web passwords' from the CUCM End User's User Passwords??
Cheers,
Hunt

The only way to pursue something like this would be to have imported the users into UC via AXL from CUCM. If CUCM is LDAP integrated and the password resides out in LDAP, AXL may work. Assuming users are authenticating with LDAP for their CUCM applications, you could configure an integration on UC directly to the LDAP directory which will use their passwords in LDAP for PCA and IMAP. (phone PIN's are controlled locally, not in LDAP).
AXL integration information:

Hope that helps,

Hello,
With either AXL or LDAP integration, for https://

No, users will need to enter their credentials every time unless they have their local browsers configured to remember their username/password for that page just like you would do for any other internet site, then they just have to click the button to login rather than typing username/pw.

Brad,
Thanks for your reply =)
Since my customer Unity Connection 8.0 is using AXL rather than LDAP. If my customer updates the 'User Password' on the 'End User' at CUCM, will it update the 'Web Applicaton' password for the User automatically?? In other words, is the AXL integration real-time between Unity Connection 8.0 & CUCM 8.0??
Cheers,
Hunt

No, the web application password is controlled by UC. I verified this in the lab, the Password field in CUCM does not correlate to the Web Application password in UC, so it does not sync automatically, or manually.
