Hi

I have setup where avaya G450 gateway is added as H323 gateway. My calling is working fine both way but the issue is its connecting with G711 instead of G729. I checked thw codec by pressing "?" button on my cisco 7942 phone.

This is what i see on avaya gateway.

What is the region configured on the GW and the Cisco phone? What codec is defined between those regions? Define the regions to use G729 between each other and ensure Avaya can support it and that should be it.

Dear,

I think You should add a sip trunk pointing to G450 gateway instead of adding itself as H323 gateway in cucm. And for G729 calls you should have transcoder/pvdm on Cisco router and that should be register on cucm.
