Call hunting and pickup

Hello people, I just received this ticket  and  the client wants me to use an internal DN which is already in use by a specific user as a hunt pilot which then allocates calls to other numbers in the line group too.   This really sounds like a strange request simply because the intended pilot DN  Is already in use. Guys what do you think, is there a work around?  Take a look a the ticket below:

Thanks

Hi just wondering if we might be able to establish the call hunt for the following numbers

1397 - jack, 1398 - Jill, 1394 - scoobydoo, 1396 - beckham C, 1393 - elmo

If its possible can we each pick up each others calls from our phone?

If the phone wasn't picked up could it route like this?

call to: 1397 should first go to  1397- 1396 - 1398 - voicemail  of (1397)

call to: 1396 should first go to 1396 - 1394 - 1398 - voicemail of (1396)

call to: 1394 should first go to 1394- 1396 - 1398 – vm of 1394

call to: 1398 should first go to 1398 - 1396 - 1394 – vw of 1398

call to: 1393 should first go to 1393 - 1397 – vm of 1393

What application, CUCM, CME?

Sure, you can do this but you will need to change the already assigned DN to something else.

How about simply using pickup groups or creating call coverage via call forward settings?

I understand the first option but I dont want to use it as i would be wasting numbers. these numbers are all DDI numbers. on the other options, could you please explain in more detail on how you would use them to acheive the end result .

Call hunting and pickup

Ok I understand your solution now. But I still have one problem.

You mean I should for instance, on extension 1397 set the call-forward-no-answer and busy to a hunt pilot which has extensions 1396-1398 as their line group members. Also that i should set the hunt forward settings to personal preference of  extension 1397 call-forward-no-coverage setting which should be pointing to extension 1397 voice mail.

But when I have already got hunting going on  extension 1397, can I still attach pickup groups to that too. For instance, if I am not mistaken, call manager will not allow a pickup group member  to pick up a call that is being handled by a hunt pilot.

To get a clear picture, take for instance,

  • •1)      Someone calls 1397,
  • •2)       call forward busy forwards it to a hunt pilot that contain extension 1396 and 1398.
  • •3)      Extension 1396 is called by the hunt pilot and extension 1396 starts ringing but 1396 is also in a pickup group that also has extension 2001 in it too. Can too 2001 pick up that call?

Can you see my current point of confusion can 1397  1396 1398 be set up the way you want me to set them up  and still be able to pick-up each other’s call?   Or will they only be able to pick-up each other’s call just before 1397 sends the call to the hunt pilot via it call-forward-busy and call-forward-No answer setting?

Guys is there any imput out there?

Hi

You can enable pickup groups for hunt groups - enter bug ID “CSCsb42763″ into into the System > Enterprise Parameters > “Cisco Support Use 1″ field in CCMAdmin, then go to the hunt pilot numbers. A new field appears where you can assign a pickup group.

Sounds like you'd have each 'personal' hunt pilot and all the user lines setting to the same pickup group.

It's an odd thing to have to do (apply the bug ID) but it's a fix that's been around since CM4, and has been applied to pretty much every system I've deployed. No idea why it's not standard really.
