Can we upload any music wav file for our music on hold?

We are running call manager 7.1(3) and a few of the senior execs are asking if we can upload any wav file to the CM MOH server.  From what I have read in the help section of call manager there doesn't look like there are any requirements other than the file be a wav file.  Is this correct?

Please let me know if you do.

Many thanks!

Rgds,

Vicky

Hi Vicky,

Yes you can upload  any wav file as long as it meets the requirements listed below:

  • 16-bit PCM wav file
  • Stereo or mono
  • Sample rates of 48 kHz, 32 kHz, 16 kHz, or 8 kHz

If you need to convert to this format then I recommend Switch Audio File Converter  from NCH

http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html

You also need to consider whether the music you want to use is royalty-free or not. You will have to get a license from the Performing Rights Society if it is not.
