Change UnityDb.bak directory to save disk space

Hello -

I would like to move the backup directory of UnityDb.bak from C:\commserver to another drive that has more capacity. I don't really want to move the databases, just the backup file. Is this possible or even supported? I see there is a way to change the directory location using SQL database maintenance, but wanted to check here for advice or contraindications.

Thanks in advance,

Ginger

Re: Change UnityDb.bak directory to save disk space

Save the UnityDbDump.bak

Open SQL Enterprise Manager.

Drill down to Management.

Click on BACKUP

Delete UnityDbDump

Right-click and select New Backup Device

The name of the device will be UnityDbDump

The File Name will be a default location, so change it to the drive\path you want.

I have tested the procedure above with the nightly and weekly backup jobs and the backups were successful.

Hi Hinho -

You are too cool! Thank you so much. I will apply this change to our test system first. Happy New Year!

Sincerely, Ginger
