Hi All

Does anybody used Cisco IPT with System Centre Operations Manager?

Does System Centre Operations Manager supports Cisco CallManager OS and Hardware for monitoring?

Thanks

VKS

Natively, no.  The MS Systems Center Ops Mgr is primarily built for monitoring Windows-based systems.  You can find a ton of info here:

http://www.microsoft.com/systemcenter/en/us/operations-manager/om-datasheets.aspx

There are plenty of associated links from within as well that will give you plenty of information as well.

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply. I have gone through the links which you have mentioned. As per the Overview of Operations Manager 2007 R2 section in What's New & Improved in Operations Manager 2007 R2 document it is clearly mentioned the below points:

  1. Delivers monitoring across Windows, Linux and Unix servers–all through a single console.
  2. Extend end to end monitoring of distributed applications to any workload running on Windows, Unix and Linux platforms.

The Cisco Servers are also Windows and Linux Based.

Thanks & Regards,

If all you care about is OS and hardware monitoring, then technically the Linux and of course Windows platforms are supported.  However, you have to remember that the Linux (RedHat-based) OS running on CUCM has been customized quite a bit for the CUCM platform.  In addition, there is no root access.  Windows is the same; however, I suspect there won't be too many issues with this.  In any case, you will need to test this to make sure it gives you the info you need.  The generic marketing statements quoted doesn't necessarily mean this will work the way you want it to.

Hi David,

Until we test it we are not sure about it.
