Cisco Sync Agent is not running - IM and Presence 10.x (new installed)

Hi Guys,

I recently re-installed my lab UC with version 10, however I could not get "Cisco Sync Agent" service running on IM server.

Everything else looks fine. I think I must miss reconfigured something however I went through the document, could not figure out.

I have added the IM server into the CUCM. What else I need to do?

I just had the same issue in

I just had the same issue in Cisco IM and Presence 9.1. After the server access got really slow and I tried almost everything but reinstalling, I noticed that my AXL user password had a @ and after I removed it, everything magically started to work and the slowness went away.

It's really bad that a special character can do this to the whole system but now I can tell you that everything is back to normal, the only issue I'm facing now is that users on one server of the cluster cannot IM with users in the other server of the same cluster, but that's for another post.

hope this is useful.

Best regards

Hi hareluya,

Iam also having the same issue, looks like its a BUG? Sync service shows always 'starting' and then it stops by itself.

I had installed with CUCM 10.0.1 and IMP also with 10.0.1.

Can i know exactly which version you have? Iam now Planning to upgrade both the servers to 10.5

tnx

Hi,

I did upgrade to 10.0.1 SU1 today, still problem persist. Sync service not starting, all other services are up. Is it time call TAC?

I sorted this out by myself

I sorted this out by myself.

If you still have the problem, try different password.

The same password works fine for UI_Admin, however as this account also been used for the AXL user and it just does not like it.

I have the problem too

I have the problem too version 11.5.1SU2. I am seeing this message in the service manager log:

ame="Cisco Sync Agent" Status="Stopped"><ReasonCode>-1019</ReasonCode>

Does someone know what 1019 is? I changed password to remove a , (comma) from the password but, it has not helped.

Sync agent service won't stay up and running if it cannot connect to CUCM using the application username and password configured on CUCM. One quick test to verify if the credentials are working is by typing https://<cucm ip address>/axl/ and enter 'administrator' as the userid and the password. If there is an error on the web page, then that explains the reason.

If there is no error, then a tac case will be required as troubleshooting will require remote access to IM&P server to verify some files. We have some previous cases for the same issue that required root access.

Cisco TAC.

Thanks for your reply Sankar

I just tried "administrator" with the link https://<cucm ip address>/axl/, got below:

Cisco CallManager: AXL Web Service

The AXL Web Service is working and accepting requests. Use HTTP POST to send a request.

So, a TAC case is required?

Hareluya,

Hareluya,

A TAC case will help so that we can retrieve the platformConfig file using the root account. While opening the case, can you include the below information?

1. Output of the below sql queries from CUCM and IMP servers.

run sql select applicationuser.name , credential.credentials from applicationuser inner join credential on applicationuser.pkid=credential.fkapplicationuser where credential.tkcredential=3 and applicationuser.name='ccmadministrator'

run sql select applicationuser.name , credential.credentials from applicationuser inner join credential on applicationuser.pkid=credential.fkapplicationuser where credential.tkcredential=3 and applicationuser.name='administrator'

2. From presence admin cli:

run sql select * from epassyncagentcfg

3. Screenshot of CUCM Administration Page > User Management > Application User page.

Do you remember the cucm administration username configured during installation? Is it 'administrator' or it was something else during installation and changed to 'administrator' after installation?

It might be necessary to go into root to fix this issue, please open a TAC case to seek additional help if you are still having this issue.

Hi,

I am facing the same issue with IM&Presence 10.0.1 integration with CUCM 10.0.1. Where is this password tab. I am not finding any on the Im&Presence admin page. It used to be appearing in the previous versions

I am running into the same

I am running into the same issue with a client currently.

Has anyone been able to resolve it? Can you please post the resolution steps or fix?

We have a CUCM 10.5 cluster (1Pub 1Sub) with a single CIMP 10.5 node. Everything was working smoothly for the first few months (~3) but after a power outage the users are no longer being synced from CUCM to CIMP. In the CIMP troubleshooter we are seeing an error stating Cisco IM and Presence Data Monitor service is not running, when it is. We notice that the Cisco Sync Agent service is in a Not Running state. If we try to start it it will sit there for a while with a status of Starting and then go back to Not Running. We did a restart of the CIMP node again to no avail.

We also see in the logs:

"2015-07-27 23:27:56,660 ERROR [AXL Runner for parent thread ID:1 (main)] axl.AXLClientLogger - sendSOAPRequest() :: 401-Permission Denied.Authorisation failed. Possibly invalid credentials"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If i were in your shoes I would try to do something with AXL user, for example, recreate AXL user in CUCM with the same login and password. or change them.

After working with TAC we

After working with TAC we found that the appadmin user (same as AXL user in 10.5) for the CUCM cluster password had to be changed AND we were hitting a bug that the CUCM appadmin password cannot contain certain characters for integration with CIMP.

Do you have a document that

Do you have a document that states that or a bug id ?

Appologies but I cannot

Appologies but I cannot locate this at this time, I tried to find it again. It was for the AXL user (now appadmin) password cannot contain certain characters to be used for CM connectivity.

This may or may not be the same root problem you are running into.
