Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail password?

Hello.

We have Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0 and have voicemails configured on it (with username and password configured in the account preferences).

We have the whole system LDAP-integrated (Callmanager, Presence, Unity Connection).

The problem is that, due to business policy, the passwords on LDAP expire every 20 days and we have to change that.

So, if we log on the PC after 20 days, we have to change the password.

Now, if we start CUPC, in the account preference there is still the old password, so we risk to lock the LDAP account, because the old password is automatically used to try to log in the voicemail.

How can we solve this issue?

Where is voicemail account password located? In Windows Registry? In a file?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

Re: Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail

The password is stored in CUPS database.

I believe Cisco is working on an enhancement to provide "signle password sign-on".

Michael,

thanks for the answer.

What do you advise to avoid the issue mentioned (LDAP account locking)?

Re: Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail

To be honest, I don't think there's a solution for now.  But this feature is available on CUP 8.0.2 and CUPC 8.0.1.

Attached is the configuration on CUPS 8.0.x.  When the credential source was set to CUP, you don't have to configure the voicemail password on the client.

Re: Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail

Michael,

thanks for your answer.

So, there isn't any way to log in CUPC in a "safe mode" (i.e. without using voicemail credentials), right?

Or a way to launch a "script" on the client to delete VM credentials from the server?

By the way, we have your good CUPS 6.x book...:-)

Regards.

Re: Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail

You may disable user's voicemail feature from server: CUPS > Applications > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > User Settings > Find the user > Set voicemail profile to .

If you want to disable voicemail feature for a number of users, you may go CUPS > Applications > Cisco Unified Personal Communicator > voicemail profile.

By the way, CUPS 7.x and 8.x book can be found here: http://www.lulu.com/content/5552336

Re: Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail

Michael,

thanks for the answer.

Actually, we WANT to use voicemail with our CUPC, but we would like to avoid that, every 20 days, when we launch it, our accounts risk to be locked due to business policy.

Regards.

Re: Cisco Unified Personal Communicator 7.0: where is voicemail

You'll have to upgrade to CUPS 8 and CUPC 8 to solve this problem.  I'm not sure if Cisco will fix it on the old versions.
