CM 7 OS Administrator ID

Hi there,

During the installation of CM 7 I missed spelled the username for the Administrator O/S account. Is there a way to change it? (the ssh login username)

I found how to recover the password, how to change the username and password for the Administrator that is used through the web page (ccmadmin) but nothing on the O/S User ID

Cheers

Alexis

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

Afaik the OS Administrator account can not be modified after the installation.
The only way is create an additional administrator account (with the privilege issue as you found out already)
Or alternatively do a rebuilt and restore, that will do the trick as well

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

I apologize, I got a bit off track here.  Your original post mentioned changing the ccmadmin which is the typical application admin password.  As far as the platform administrator, it gets set once.  So, short of rebuild (as you said) then your SSH/CLI user is going to remain the same.   The following commands only apply to the Application Administrator ID (for CCM Admin access):

utils reset_ui_administrator_name

utils reset_ui_administrator_password

Sorry for any confusion there...I'll make it up somewhere else.

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

You can login into SSH and simply create a new admin account, leave the existing there that is mispelled.

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

Thanks for the reply.

I have already tried but but the issue is that it only allows me to create an account with privilege level 2.

When i do "show accounts" the mispelt account has privilege level 4.

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

Did you just install it? I think you can use the DR disc to reset it. Or

reinstall it. Or open a tac case and have them rename it in the Root. I

thought there was a rename it, but I guess not. I know you can reset the

password on that account..

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

I've tested changing admin names via CLI without issue.  Just make sure to reboot when you're done (whether it says to or not).

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

Hi

I already changed the password to access the CUCM by web (/ccmadmin -> User management).

I'm looking for command on SSH console "set password admin" to changes the password for the Operating System Administrator, no application password. Is it the correct procedure ? the reboot is necessary?
I need just reset the password where I access the CUCM by SSH.

Re: CM 7 OS Administrator ID

To reset the Platform Administrator password (i.e., for login to CLI or OS Administration page), you use the "set password admin" command on the CLI interface.  I don't believe a reboot is required; however, the system will typically prompt you when entering the command if further action is needed.
