oh, follow up here - to change the language in the UDT for the event log messages you need to right click on the "Cisco Unity Diagnostic Tool" node in the tree on the left and select the "Change event log language" option there - all languages installed for Unity should be available to choose. This translates only the Unity specific messages in the internal UDT event log viewer (it has no effect on non Unity event log messages and does not impact the event log viewer externally after you exit UDT).
