Corporate Directories Button

Hello,

Is there a way to change the order of the directory's on an IP phone? So if someone hits the directory's it currently shows the following:

1: Missed calls

2: Received calls

3: Placed calls

4: Personal Directories (This Requires a login)

5: Corporate Directories

I have a customer who would like to move the corporate directories up, above the personal directories and have the personal directories last. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Thanks!

John

Re: Corporate Directories Button

This is probably a question that should be asked on the IP telephony forum - this is for Unified Communications products (Unity, Unity Connection, Unity Express, Meeting Place, MPE...).

Hi There,

I have a customer who wants to do the same.

Did you ever get a resolution to this?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, the answer is you cannot reorder them.

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Is there a way to create a custom shortcut to the corporate directory?

The owner of my firm wants the quickest access to the directory and does not use the new call soft key.

Any suggestions?

Re: Corporate Directories Button

yes you can do an online web directory lookup

point your browser to:

http://yourCallManager/ccmuser/directory.asp

Change yourcallmanager to your call manager publishers IP or hostname.

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Can you access that link from a phone though?

Our users don't access ccmuser.

The owner wants one button access to the corporate directory.

thanks,

Re: Corporate Directories Button

This can be accomplished via another method, assign a soft key to a URI application, then input the URL previously discussed "http://%SERVER_IP%:8080/ccmcip/xmldirectory.jsp" . Set the text for the soft key to "Corporate Directory". This will allow your user to press the single soft key to access the Corporate Directory.

Re: Corporate Directories Button

By chance does anybody know how to perform an online web directory lookup for an entry in the local directory of a Call Manager Express?

For CM 4.0 one can find entries like this:

http://yourCM//ccmcip/xmldirectorylist.asp?l=...&f

=...&n=...&start=... where f is the first name, l is the last name, n is the extension and start is an offset (a query will not return more then 32 entries). For CM 5.1 replace xmldirectorylist.asp with xmldirectorylist.jsp

Now for a Call Manager Express 4.0 the URL should be something like http://yourCM/ localdirectory/search however I can't guess the exact URL.

Thanks.

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Do you have brief instructions, or tell me where to find them, on how to create a new soft key? CUCM 6.0.1

Re: Corporate Directories Button

For those that have struggled with the Corporate Directory...

Got it!

You can create the URL to just the corporate directory and assign it to a line.

The IP Phone Configuration URL http://"your Pub Here":8080/ccmcip/xmldirectoryinput.jsp

I chose to add it as a Service URL button instead of a soft key. This way it's right there. One button!

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Sorry but the only solution I found was a PLK, not a soft key.

I WANTED a soft key, but could not figure out how either.

The PLK solved the issue at my company and made the owner happy, which is my primary job.

Hey Folks,

Nice discussion! As an FYI, you cannot create new "custom" Softkeys so the method that Liz nicely detailed is the way to go :) Liz, 5 points for your good work here.

Take care,

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Hi people,

I've been following this discussion cause I've got a 'similar' need.

I've got two telephony installations, one being a CUCM6 system and a CCME4. The two systems are connected via a VPN & trunk, and I'd like to give the phones located on the CCME system the ability to search through the corporate directory on the CUCM6 system via the http://XXXXXXXXX:8080/ccmcip/xmldirectoryinput.jsp

URL.

I've already configured a number of IP Services for the CCME system (using the URL string under the telephony-service), so I guess a new IP service needs to be created (unless its already available?).

Any help or suggestions are welcome.

Cheers,

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Hi Chris,

The recommended config for this type of setup is to actually configure the CME users on the CCM Directory and then tweak the CME to point to the CCM Directory. Have a look;

To enable an external directory resource on supported Cisco Unified IP phones and disable local directory services on those same phones, perform the following steps.

Prerequisites

To use a Cisco Unified Communications Manager directory as an external directory source for Cisco Unified CME phones, the Cisco Unified Communications Manager must be made aware of the phones. You must list the MAC addresses of the Cisco Unified CME phones in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager and reset the phones from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager. It is not necessary for you to assign ephone-dns to the phones or for the phones to register with Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

Restrictions

Provisioning of the directory URL to select an external directory resource disables the Cisco Unified CME local directory service.

SUMMARY STEPS

1. enable

2. configure terminal

3. telephony -service

4. url {directory | service} url ***something like http://172.16.242.240/CCMCIP/xmldirectory.asp

5. end

From this good CME doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmedirs.html#wp1015876

Hope this helps!

Re: Corporate Directories Button

Rob,

Many thanks for your reply.

The suggested solution seems great, but because the remote CUCME system is part of a private network, I can't configure the central CUCM6 to include the remote CUCME phones, nor can I disable the local CUCME directory.

I'm possibly looking at the solution of an ip service that will allow users on the CUCME system, access the remote CUCM xmldirectory. Is there any such implementation available?

Cheers,
